Our Plants

We grow hard to find and unusual hardy perennials with the needs of wildlife and the planet in mind.

All plants are grown from scratch on site, are peat and pesticide free and use organic methods.

Bulbine frutescens – Burn Jelly Plant

Rhizomatous, evergreen perennial. Linear, fleshy green leaves. Erect stems with terminal racemes of yellow to orange flowers throughout the Summer.

Height & Spread: 0.5 x 1.5m in 2-5 years.

Hardiness: H3: -5 to 1ºC.

Soil: Non-ericaceous, well-drained soil.

Light: Full-sun.

Native Range: S Africa 

CARE & BENEFIT 

No routine care required. Cut back spent flowers as necessary. May require winter protection if not sufficiently well drained.

Medicinal. The sap of the leaves is used to soothe burns.
