Our Plants

We grow hard to find and unusual hardy perennials with the needs of wildlife and the planet in mind.

All plants are grown from scratch on site, are peat and pesticide free and use organic methods.

Aquilegia canadensis – Canadian Columbine

Clumping, herbaceous perennial. Divided, green, basal foliage. Erect stems carry nodding flowers with pale yellow petals & scarlet sepals with straight spurs in late Spring / early Summer.

Height & Spread: 0.75 x 0.3m in 2-5 years.

Hardiness: H5: -15 to -10ºC

Soil: Any, moist but well-drained soil.

Light: Full-sun to Full-shade.

Native Range: NE. America & Canada. 

Dead-head to encourage repeat flowering or leave to self sow. Cut down spent flowering stems and damaged leaves as the new emerge in spring.

Attractive to Bees.
