Our Plants

We grow hard to find and unusual hardy perennials with the needs of wildlife and the planet in mind.

All plants are grown from scratch on site, are peat and pesticide free and use organic methods.

Bistorta amplexicaulis – ‘Clent Charm’

Upright, clumping , herbaceous perennial. Mid green ovate pointed leaves. Long stalked spikes of small soft red flower spikes, opening from darker buds appear from Summer to Autumn. Introduction from Howard & Linda Eggins circa 1993 named for the area they lived at the time, Clent, Worcestershire. Registered as under Plant Heritage Guardianship and Threatened in cultivation.

Height & Spread: 1 x 1m in 2-5 years.

Hardiness: H7: < -20ºC.

Soil: Any, moist but well-drained to poorly-drained soil.

Light: Full-sun to Part-shade.

Native Range: Horticultural Cultivar. 

Tidy after flowering. Cut down spent flowering stems and damaged leaves as the new emerge in spring.

Attractive to Pollenators & beneficial insects. Related to UK native.

This cultivar is registered as under Plant Heritage Guardianship and is threatened in cultivation.
