Our Plants

We grow hard to find and unusual hardy perennials with the needs of wildlife and the planet in mind.

All plants are grown from scratch on site, are peat and pesticide free and use organic methods.

Calamagrostis x acutiflora – ‘England’

Robust, erect, clumping, perennial grass. Glossy green leaves with golden yellow variegation, that turn yellow in Autumn. Erect stems bearing dense branching flowering panicles in Summer which persist well into winter and are superb in dew or frost.

Height & Spread:1.1 x 0.3m in 2 – 5 years.

Hardiness: H6: -20 to -15ºC.

Soil: Any, moist but well-drained to well-drained soil.

Light: Full-sun to Part-shade.

Native Range: Horticultural Cultivar. 

Cut back to 4 – 6 ” before growth resumes in spring.

Related to some UK Natives.

Good hibernating habitat for invertebrates. Possible food plant for up to 20 Uk invertebrates.
