Our Plants

We grow hard to find and unusual hardy perennials with the needs of wildlife and the planet in mind.

All plants are grown from scratch on site, are peat and pesticide free and use organic methods.

Hesperantha coccinea – Crimson Flag

Semi-evergreen, rhizomatous, clumping perennial. Erect, sword shaped, green foliage. Bowl to starry shaped scarlet flowers form Late Summer into Autumn.

Height & Spread: 0.7 x 0.5m in 2-5 years.

Hardiness: H4: -10 to -5ºC.

Soil: Any, moist but well-drained soil.

Light: Full-sun.

Native Range: S Africa to Zimbabwe. 

Dead-head to prolong flowering. Cut down spent flowering stems and damaged leaves as the new emerge in spring.

Useful flower for late flying insects.
