Our Plants

We grow hard to find and unusual hardy perennials with the needs of wildlife and the planet in mind.

All plants are grown from scratch on site, are peat and pesticide free and use organic methods.

Symphytum grandiflorum – Dwarf Comfrey

Spreading, rhizomatous, herbaceous perennial. Hairy mid-green ovate leaves. Nodding spiral cymes of flowers in Spring maturing from pink to blue to white.

Height & Spread: 0.3 x 0.7m in 2-5 years.

Hardiness:  H7: < -20ºC.

Soil:  Any, moist but well-drained soil.

Light:  Full-sun to Part-shade.

Native Range: Causcaus. 

Dead-head after flowering. Cut down spent stems and damaged leaves as the new emerge in spring. Easily uprooted to control spread.

Related to a UK native. Very popular with early flying Bumble and solitary bees.
