Our Plants

We grow hard to find and unusual hardy perennials with the needs of wildlife and the planet in mind.

All plants are grown from scratch on site, are peat and pesticide free and use organic methods.

Ajuga reptans – ‘Rowden Appleblossom’

Semi-evergreen, rhizomatous mat forming perennial. Glossy bright green leaves with purple-bronze edges. Whorled spikes of two lipped, “Clear appleblossom pink” flowers in Spring. 0.5 x 1m in 2-5 years. H7: < -20ºC. Any, moist but well-drained soil. Part-shade to Full-shade.
Introduced in 2006 by John & Galen Carters’ nursery Rowden Gardens This cultivar is registered as under Plant Heritage Guardianship and is threatened in cultivation.

Height & Spread: 0.5 x 1m in 2-5 years.

Hardiness: H7: < -20ºC.

Soil: Any, moist but well-drained soil.

Light: Part-shade to Full-shade.

Native Range: Cultivar of UK Native.

CARE & BENEFIT 

Cut back flowering spikes once spent.

Attractive to Bees. Food plant for at least 24 UK invertebrate species. This cultivar is registered as under Plant Heritage Guardianship and is threatened in cultivation.
