Our Plants

We grow hard to find and unusual hardy perennials with the needs of wildlife and the planet in mind.

All plants are grown from scratch on site, are peat and pesticide free and use organic methods.

Plant Sorting Pot

Carex elata – ‘Aurea’

Clump forming, evergreen grass. Narrow upright to arching bright yellow leaves. Small, blackish flowering spikes in early Summer.

Height & Spread:  0.7 x 0.5m in 2-5 years.

Hardiness:  H6: -20 to -15ºC.

Soil: Any, moist but well-drained to poorly-drained soil.

Light: Full-sun to Part-shade.

Native Range: Europe, Asia & N. Africa.

CARE & BENEFIT

Remove dead and damaged stems & leaves in Spring, Cut back after flowering if desired.

Architectural. Food plant for around 12 UK native invertebrates.
