Our Plants

We grow hard to find and unusual hardy perennials with the needs of wildlife and the planet in mind.

All plants are grown from scratch on site, are peat and pesticide free and use organic methods.

Eryngium variifolium – Variable-leaved Sea Holly

Clumping, evergreen perennial. Rounded basal leaves with white veins. Branched, leafy stems bearing silvery-blue flower-heads with narrow, spiny silver bracts in Summer.

Height & Spread: 0.3 x 0.3m in 2-5 years.

Hardiness: H4: -10 to -5ºC.

Soil: Any, well-drained soil.

Light: Full-sun.

Native Range: N. Africa. 

Dead-head to encourage repeat flowering or leave to self sow. Cut down spent flowering stems and damaged leaves as the new emerge in spring.

Very attractive to pollenators.
