Our Plants

We grow hard to find and unusual hardy perennials with the needs of wildlife and the planet in mind.

All plants are grown from scratch on site, are peat and pesticide free and use organic methods.

Physalis alkekengi var. franchetii – ‘Gigantea’

Spreading, rhizomatous, perennial. Upright stems with ovate leaves. Small creamy-white flowers in Summer. inflated, papery, orange “lanterns” (calyces) in Autumn.

Height & Spread: 1 x 0.5m in 2-5 years.

Hardiness: H6: -20 to -15ºC.

Soil: Any, moist but well-drained to well-drained soil.

Light: Full-sun to Part-shade.

Native Range: Horticultural Cultivar
