Our Plants

We grow hard to find and unusual hardy perennials with the needs of wildlife and the planet in mind.

All plants are grown from scratch on site, are peat and pesticide free and use organic methods.

Plant Sorting Pot

Pyrus communis ‘Hessle’ (C/D)

A medium-sized, upright tree with long, shiny, oval leaves and white blossom in spring. The small, round-to-conical, dessert pears have greenish-yellow skin with variable russetting. The pale yellow flesh is juicy, melting and sweet but with little flavour. Pick in early autumn and use to mid-autumn; very hardy and crops reliably even in cooler conditions. Not self-fertile, in pollination group 2

Height & Spread: 5 x 5m in 10-20 years.

Hardiness: H6: -20 to -15ºC.

Soil:  Any, moist but well-drained to well-drained soil.

Light: Full-sun.

Native Range: Horticultural Cultivar.
