Our Plants

We grow hard to find and unusual hardy perennials with the needs of wildlife and the planet in mind.

All plants are grown from scratch on site, are peat and pesticide free and use organic methods.

Prunella grandiflora – ‘Rubra’

Semi-evergreen, mat forming perennial. Dark green oval to lanceolate, toothed foliage. Dense short spikes of two lipped pinkish-red flowers in late Spring to Summer.

Height & Spread: 0.3 x 0.5m in 2-5 years.

Hardiness:  H7: < -20ºC.

Soil:  Any, moist but well-drained soil.

Light:  Full-sun to Part-shade.

Native Range: Horticultural Cultivar. 

Dead-head to prolong flowering. Cut down spent flowering stems and damaged leaves as the new emerge in spring.

Related to a UK native. Very popular with Bumble bees. Probable food plant for a number of UK native invertebrates.

This cultivar is registered as under Plant Heritage guardianship.
